Hokuryu the nothern dragon is a unique kendo bogu design to mimic the best of handstitched bogu by using a square stitch create bumps to disperse energy. Just like the dragon, the square stitches gives an illusion of dragon scales that is hard and impenetrable. Hokuryu’s thickness, elasticity and aesthetic befits its image. The use of modern material enhances its function. An original bogu only from Hokuto.

SHORT OVERALL REVIEW ON TARE
Hokuryu (Tare) offers superb protection and function. Its superbly thick and elastic haraobi with square stitching offers great protection from missed blows. The toji is re-enforced using leather to ensure longevity and durability. The tare futon is thick, and the large square stitching addes to its protection and allows the kodare to be easy to shape. Kongawa kadogawa adds durability. Its 5 dan kazari is done neat and tightly while good amount of cotton stuffing is inserted between the kazari offers protection from missed blows on the hips. A great tare for an experience kendoka looking for a new primary bogu or secondary bogu. Suitable for both shiai, tournament and training.
However, its price tag might be a bit expensive for beginners and its weight might not be suitable for kendoka that prefers light equipment.
